18CrNiMo7-6 Case-Hardening Steel

1.6587

  • EN1.6587
  • EN18CrNiMo7-6
  • AISI~4820

High-hardenability chromium-nickel-molybdenum case-hardening steel. Provides high core strength and toughness in large sections; preferred for heavily loaded large gears.

01Material Properties

  • Core Rm 1100–1400 MPa
  • High hardenability; large sections
  • Very good toughness
  • High surface fatigue (pitting) resistance
  • Deep carburising possible (2–4 mm)

02Applications

  • Large gears and planetary gears
  • Wind turbine and gearbox gears
  • Heavy vehicle driveline components
  • Large-section shafts
  • Mining and lifting equipment

03Delivery Condition

  • Soft annealed (max. 229 HB) or +FP; forgings and cut blocks.
