Grade 5 titanium, Ti-6Al-4V, is the most widely specified titanium alloy, used in demanding aerospace, defense, industrial and engineering applications. It offers a high strength-to-weight ratio, good corrosion resistance and heat-treatable properties. Typical values

Stress relieving
480–650 °C, 1–4 h; air cool
Annealing
700–790 °C, 1–4 h; air/furnace cool
Solution treatment
900–955 °C, 1 h; water quench
Ageing
480–595 °C, 4–8 h; air cool
After STA
≈ 36–41 HRC; Rm ≈ 1100–1200 MPa
Hardenability
Full up to ≈ 25 mm section
Delivery condition
Annealed (AMS 4928)
