316L Stainless Steel

1.4404

  • EN1.4404
  • ENX2CrNiMo17-12-2
  • AISI316L
  • UNSS31603

Molybdenum-alloyed, low-carbon austenitic stainless steel. High corrosion resistance in chloride-containing environments and acids; the low carbon content prevents intergranular corrosion after welding.

01Material Properties

  • High corrosion resistance (chlorides, acids, seawater)
  • Low carbon; no sensitisation after welding
  • Non-magnetic
  • Not hardenable by heat treatment; strengthened by cold working
  • Good formability and weldability

02Applications

  • Chemical, food and pharmaceutical equipment
  • Marine and offshore components
  • Pipes, flanges and fasteners
  • Heat exchangers and tanks
  • Medical and laboratory parts

03Delivery Condition

  • Solution annealed (max. 215 HB).
