- Available pre-hardened or soft annealed
- Good hot strength
- Use above 44 HRC is not recommended

- Press forging dies
- Die holders for press forging
- Bolsters and backers in aluminium extrusion tooling
03Delivery Condition
- 230 HB, soft annealed
04Heat Treatment
Typical values
- Soft annealing
- 650–700 °C; max. 250 HB
- Stress relieving
- 550–600 °C
- Preheating
- 600–650 °C
- Hardening
- 840–870 °C; 20–30 min
- Quenching medium
- Oil or 180–220 °C salt bath; air for small sections
- As-quenched hardness
- ≈ 56–58 HRC
- Tempering
- Twice; 400–600 °C
- Working hardness
- 36–48 HRC; delivered pre-hardened 36–42 HRC
- Nitriding
- 500–530 °C
