Plastic mold and holder steel with improved corrosion resistance from 16% Cr and improved machinability from sulphur addition.

01Material Properties

  • Good corrosion resistance
  • Very good machinability
  • Dimensional stability

02Applications

  • Mold holders for all kinds of plastic injection molds
  • Holders for precision molds
  • Mold holders where corrosion in cooling channels must be avoided
  • Injection molds not requiring high surface polish
  • Rubber molds
  • Machine parts requiring stainless properties

03Delivery Condition

  • Pre-hardened 280–325 HB (29–33 HRC)

04Heat Treatment

Typical values

Delivery condition
Pre-hardened 280–325 HB
Stress relieving
550–600 °C after rough machining; furnace cooling
Re-hardening
1000–1050 °C, oil/air → ≈ 48–50 HRC
Tempering (after re-hardening)
500–600 °C → 30–40 HRC
Nitriding
Not recommended due to sulphur content
