D6 Tool Steel

1.2436

  • EN1.2436
  • ENX210CrW12
  • AISID6

High-carbon, 12 % chromium, tungsten-alloyed ledeburitic cold work tool steel. Very high wear resistance; toughness is low, so it is used where abrasion rather than impact governs tool life.

01Material Properties

  • Very high wear resistance
  • Good edge retention
  • Low toughness; care with impact loads
  • Oil or air hardening
  • Heat treated to 60–64 HRC

02Applications

  • Blanking and punching dies for thin sheet
  • Deep drawing dies
  • Cutting rolls and circular knives
  • Wire drawing dies
  • Ceramic and brick pressing tools

03Delivery Condition

  • Max. 255 HB, soft annealed.
